A proven conservative leader, Congressman Sessions has combined hard work, innovative thinking, and deep-seated principles in successfully serving Texas in Congress for over 22 years. He represents Central Texans serving the 17th Congressional District of Texas. He is a husband and a proud father to five sons, including a young Down syndrome man. He has always been involved in community activities throughout his personal and professional life, serving in various leadership roles with the Chamber of Commerce, Boy Scouts of America, disability assistance, and local conservation groups. In fact, one of his most outstanding achievements is his lifetime rank as an Eagle Scout.
He has a diverse background in both the private and public sectors, providing a dynamic skill set to the House of Representatives. Previously, he was part of the Republican House majority that balanced the federal budget four years in a row. He served as the Chairman of the Rules Committee and Chairman of the National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC), directing the party to regain the House majority. Currently, he sits on the House Oversight and Reform Committee, House Science, Space, and Technology Committee, and is the Ranking Member on the Civil Rights and Civil Liberties Subcommittee. He exemplifies American exceptionalism while embodying Texas’ motto of friendship being an ally to many throughout the world.
