Sabrina Maddeaux

Sabrina Maddeaux is a National Magazine Award-winning journalist and political commentator for Canada’s top radio and TV programs.

Sabrina is a freelance columnist for the National Post, where she’s known for bold opinions, sharp analysis, and her unique ability to write authoritatively on a broad range of political and economic issues. Her columns often trend #1 online and appear on the paper’s front page.

She frequently parses topics from a millennial perspective, though her work draws praise from across all age groups. Sabrina was one of the first columnists to predict the housing affordability and inflation crises.

In November 2022, she secured Opposition Leader Pierre Poilievre’s first mainstream media interview following his election as Conservative Leader.

In April 2022, Sabrina was one of 61 Canadians indefinitely banned from entering Russia under retaliatory sanctions imposed by President Vladimir Putin and the Russian Foreign Ministry.

Sabrina has completed the Canadian Securities Course (CSC) offered by the Canadian Securities Institute.

She is also an in-demand panel moderator and event host. She has moderated the Ottawa and Halifax stops of the Scotiabank Giller Prize’s Between the Pages tour, as well as discussions for the Economic Club of Canada, Empire Club, Postmedia, Canadian Club, and more.

A frequent on-air commentator, Sabrina has been seen/heard on TVO’s The Agenda, CBC Radio, CityLine, Entertainment Tonight Canada, Newstalk 1010, Breakfast Television (Toronto, Montreal, Vancouver & Calgary), CP24 and ITV’s The Lorraine Show.

She is a National Magazine Award and Canadian Online Publishing Award winner, as well as a Webby Award winner. She has served as a judge for the Op-Ed category of the Canadian University Press JHM Awards, which honour excellence in student journalism.

Sabrina believes deeply in the importance of philanthropy and has helped raise hundreds of thousands of dollars for nonprofit organizations. She currently serves on the planning committee for Boost Child & Youth Advocacy Centre’s (Boost CYAC) major fundraiser, Butterfly Ball, as well as ComKids’ Masquerade Ball. She will also co-chair the Gardiner Museum’s 2023 SMASH art party and fundraiser.

She’s a graduate of St. Bonaventure University (Olean, New York), where she played NCAA Division I soccer and earned a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science (Honors) with a double minor in Journalism and Mass Communication and Theology. She graduated with the top GPA in her major, earning the university’s Political Science Award for her class year, and served two terms as President of the Student Government Association.

Sabrina is a longtime supporter of made-in-Canada fashion and local small businesses. She was born and raised in Richmond Hill, Ontario.
