Youri Chassin is a member of the National Assembly, representing the riding of Saint-Jérôme since 2018, within the governing party (CAQ). He is the parliamentary secretary of the Health Minister, tasked with opening up two privately owned mini-hospitals providing free and universal healthcare services, a first in Quebec. In his previous term, he was parliamentary secretary of the Economy and Innovation Minister, working on cutting red tape.
Mr Chassin holds a master’s degree in economics from the Université de Montréal. He worked as Economist and Research Director at the Montreal Economic Institute for over six years. In this capacity, he analyzed public policies through short publications accessible to the general public and provides commentary on them in the media.
Prior to this, he was an economic analyst at the Quebec Employers Council (CPQ) and an economist at the Center for Interuniversity Research and Analysis on Organizations (CIRANO). His interest in public policy issues goes back to his university days during which he was an elected official at the Quebec Federation of University Students (FEUQ) and other youth organizations.
